Linksys wireless routers enable Internet connection sharing. When a Linksys router is connected to a high-speed Internet connection, such as a cable or DSL modem, multiple computers connecting to the router can access the Internet simultaneously. You can reset the Linksys router back to its default factory settings and reinstall it into the local computer network without the installation disc. On the back of the router is a reset button that enables this process. Step1: Unplug the power from the Linksys router.
Step2: Hold in the reset button and plug the power back in.
Step3: Continue holding the reset button for 30 seconds, and then release it.
Step4: Wait 30 seconds and then unplug the power from the Linksys router again.
Step5: Plug the power back in and wait another 30 seconds. At this point, the router can participate on a wired network without any additional setup. If wireless settings need to be configured, proceed with the remaining steps.
Step6: Open an Internet browser on a computer that is directly connected to the router with an Ethernet cable.
Step7: Type 192.168.1.1 into the address bar and press "Enter."
Step8: In login page, leave the username blank and enter "admin" without quotes for the password. Press "Enter."
Step9: Click on Wireless. Enter a wireless network name (SSID). Click "Apply" to save the changes.
Step10: Click "Wireless Security." Choose an encryption type, such as WPAv2, and enter a password to be used on the wireless network.
Step11: And finally clicks apply to complete the settings.
